Reservoir Engineering

Rate Transient Analysis

Since 2009, we have gained extensive experience working in the WCSB, US and all over the globe. Our recent projects include complex studies in the Unconventional and Conventional plays in North America and worldwide. We have accumulated an outstanding knowledge library performing multidisciplinary studies combined with data acquisition and integration.

Rate Transient Analysis (RTA)

Uses flowing well pressures and production rates to determine reservoir and stimulation properties

What insights can an RTA provide?

• Identification of flow regimes in the reservoir
• Estimation of hydraulic fracture properties
• Estimation of reservoir permeability
• Estimation of hydrocarbons originally in place
• Well forecasts

Benefits of RTA

• Does not require well to be shut-in or specialized measurements, readily available data used in analysis
• Especially beneficial in low perm reservoirs where time to reach boundary dominated flow is large
• Integration into interactive reservoir models
